Yes, the oats survived the polar vortex. But they got dinged pretty bad by the cold temperatures. It got down into the mid- to high- teens four mornings out at Spindletop Farm in mid November, which is low for that time of year. Compare the photos below to see how the oats looked in late November and mid December, and also see how the oats look compared to the winter rye. Winter rye has no problem surviving those cold temperatures!
